Sharks fill us with terror and awe… yet there is still so much we don't know about them. With over 500 different species inhabiting our planet, they are as diverse in size and appearance as they are in behavior!
Sophia Emmons, Outreach Coordinator at the Bimini Biological Field Station, will join us virtually via Zoom from South Bimini in the Bahamas! She’ll dive into the fascinating lives of sharks, from their past to their perilous present. Sophia will cover the basic anatomy of sharks, the role they play in the ocean ecosystem, and the threats they currently face. This talk will also provide tips to decrease your already small chance of becoming a victim of a shark bite and actions YOU can take today to better care for our oceans.
Thursday, October 21, 7 p.m. This is a free virtual program using Zoom.
