Event Details

Did you know that Indiana Dunes National Park is one of our country’s newest national parks (established Feb. 15, 2019) and only a one-hour drive from Woodridge in northwestern Indiana?

Kip Walton, park ranger and the park's outreach program coordinator, will join us from Porter, IN to provide an overview of the Indiana Dunes National Park. He will highlight several areas of this beautiful park along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, starting at the west end of the park in Gary, IN and finishing at the east end of the park in Michigan City, IN. Kip will also let you know about the latest COVID-related restrictions, in case you are planning a visit.

Famous for its sand dunes, the park's 15,000 acres are also home to woodlands, prairies, savannas, bogs and wetlands. The park also hosts a variety of outdoor activities for all seasons. Hiking, cycling, swimming, camping, picnicking, birding, fishing and snowshoeing are all popular, depending on the time of year.

Thursday, June 17, 7 p.m. This is a free virtual program using Zoom.
