February Featured Artist: Jay Moore
The Woodridge Public Library Gallery will exhibit over 30 portraits created by local artist Jay Moore throughout February.
Each portrait has been created through an artistic process involving digital tools and embroidery techniques. Ms. Moore describes her work as "Thread Art," and has been perfecting her craft for over 28 years. From the artist's website digitalmama.net, "I digitize portraits of individuals. I then take that digitized image and using fabric as my canvas and thread as my paint create an Embroidered Portrait." Assembled in observance of Black History Month, the February exhibit represents Ms. Moore's perspective on black history and influential African Americans.
Members of the community are welcome to meet Jay Moore and to discuss her unique artistic methods at a reception in the lobby of the Woodridge Library on Saturday, February 2 between 2 and 4 p.m.
