MediaOnDemand Downloadable Audiobooks and e-Books Now Available
The Woodridge Public Library has joined with fifty-two other area libraries to form a new service called “MediaOnDemand.” Now you can download best selling digital titles 24/7 to your PC (personal computer) or portable device (e.g., MP3 player, iPod, Sony Reader, Barnes and Noble Nook, Kindle, iPad, smartphone) at home, in the office or from anywhere in the world. Many of the titles can also be burned to CD (compact disc).
Titles include the latest fiction and nonfiction best sellers, book club favorites, award winning authors and much more for adult, teens and children. Please note that there is a limit of 5 titles out at a time and 5 titles on hold at a time. Check out periods are 7 or 14 days (your choice) and downloable audiobooks cannot be returned early, although e-books can be returned at any time before they are due.
To have access to MediaOnDemand all you need is a Woodridge Public Library card. You can have up to five titles checked out and five items on hold at any given time. Please note that specific titles vary in their ability to be transferred to PCs, portable devices, and burned to CDs.
Visit the MediaOnDemand online catalog to browse the collection and to learn more about downloading specific titles. You can access MediaOnDemand by visiting: www.mediaondemand.org.
Check out our new collection of Playaways. What are Playaways? They are compact MP3 players that fit into your shirt pocket or purse, each containing one audiobook. No more fumbling with cassettes or CDs, and no need to download anything! Each comes with a spare battery and you can purchase ear buds at the Circulation Desk for one dollar or use your own.
The Playaways are currently shelved near the Library’s audiobook collection.
