Woodridge Public Library’s computers offer free access to the Internet and a variety of software programs. In some cases, a valid Woodridge Library card is required to use the computers. All computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis; advance reservations and reservations by phone are not accepted. Patrons are strongly encouraged to save files to a flash drive. Flash drives are sold at the Adult Reference Desk. Please note that the Library does not provide access to specialized software for burning files to CD-ROMs or DVDs. Please note that the Library is not responsible for any damages suffered, including the corruption or loss of data, resulting from user error, computer error, equipment malfunction or service interruptions. Adult & Young Adult DepartmentComputers located in the Adult/Young Adult Department can be used by Library patrons ages 12 and above. The computers do not have filters. Patrons must agree to comply with the Library’s Acceptable Computer User Agreement [PDF] in order to use the computers. 22 Internet/Office Software Computers - with Internet access (Internet Explorer, Firefox), Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access), Paint.net (graphics application) and Roxio Creator Basic (CD/DVD burning application) are available to Library patrons who have their own valid Woodridge Public Library card. There is a 90-minute time limit per session and patrons can use them for up to 6 hours per day. Computers have CD/DVD drives, a USB ports and headphone jacks. Earbuds and flash drives are for sale at the Adult/Young Adult Reference Desk and the Circulation Desk. Children's DepartmentComputers located in the Children’s Department can be used by children 11 years old and younger who have their own Woodridge Public Library cards. The computers do not have filters. A parent or guardian must grant permission for a child to use the Library’s computers by signing the Library’s Acceptable Computer User Agreement for Children [PDF], and children who have not yet entered 3rd grade must have a parent sit with them while using a computer. 8 Internet/Online Databases/Office Software Computers - with access to the Internet, the Library’s online databases and Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access) are available to children. There is a 60-minute time limit per session and children can use them for up to 6 hours per day. Each computer has a USB port and a headphone jack. Headphones are provided in the Children's Department or you may bring your own. PrintingThe Library’s computers print primarily to laser printers and, in the case of the Adult/Young Adult Department standalone computer, a color inkjet printer. Black & white printing is 10 cents per printed page and color printing is 25 cents per printed page. |
