Reserving Materials

All circulating material owned by the Woodridge Public Library may be reserved. Material owned by other Metropolitan Library System libraries in the SWAN Consortia may also be reserved subject to local policies. To place a reserve request, choose one of the following:

In the Library

Choose My Account in the SWAN Online Catalog and log in to your account.  Search for the desired item. If the item is not owned at Woodridge or is checked out, you may reserve the item by clicking the Request button on the catalog page.  When the item becomes available, you will be notified.  Materials are held for seven (7) days at the Circulation Desk. 

If the item you are looking for shows “ON SHELF”, write down the call number and look for the item on the shelf.  Ask for assistance in finding your material at the Adult/Young Adult or Children’s References desks.

From Home

You may access the SWAN catalog at home to search for and request items. Choose My Account in the catalog and log in to your account. Search for the desired title.  If the item shows “ON SHELF” at the Woodridge library, it is better not to place a request. Call the library and ask for either the Adult/Young Adult or Children’s Reference Desk, and ask a staff member to pull the item from the shelf. The item will be held at the Circulation Desk for seven (7) days.

If the item is not owned or not on the shelf at Woodridge, click the Request button on the catalog page.  You will be notified when your item is available. If your request is not allowed, call the library for assistance (630-964-7899).

Anytime the library is open, staff is willing to assist you with reserving material. You may call or email your request to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  In your message, please include your name, telephone number and library card number along with the title and format of the item you wish to reserve.

  • View checked-out items
  • Renew eligible checked-out items
  • Modify your PIN (Personal Identification Number)
  • Modify your Email address
  • Start a reading history
  • Save preferred searches
  • Cancel holds
  • Freeze holds
